Email Marketing

You email is like your business phone number so you should promote it as such. Email marketing involves but not limited to the following:

  • Include you email on all your product/business stationeries, including business cards, brochures or letterheads. A simple rule is that if you’ve listed your phone number on something, include your email!
  • Include your email on all appropriate advertisements
  • List your email and website on websites of relevance

Collecting Emails - An excellent way to keep your customers after visiting your website is to collect their emails. This can be done in a number of ways; you can have competitions, a guess book page or a newsletter your customers can subscribe to. Remember though that users are getting more and more net savvy and unless you are providing them with benefits they will be reluctant to part with their email addresses. So if you were going to offer a newsletter let them know what will be included in the newsletters, competitions? Coupons? Discounts? Information?

Contact customers with email - Once you have collected emails from your customers, use it effectively. You should;

  • Send follow-up emails to purchasers of your products or services. Thank them for their business and let them know how to reach you by email.
  • Send holiday greetings to customers and prospects using email
  • Create a "group" of customers' email addresses so you can send an email with news of your business to all of them at once without having all of the individual addresses displayed on the email header for all recipients to see. Most email software applications will provide you with instructions for creating a group in your address book.

Email Signatures - Email signatures are a great form of email marketing. They are messages with a few lines identifying you and your business. Email signatures should be appended to any emails that you send, or after every post in a discussion board/forum.

Email signatures are easy create and unlike printed messages, email signatures are easy to change ad very flexible. You may even want to place a slogan of you company at the end of your email signature.
