Marketing Plan
In the section you will learn how to write an effective marketing plan.
What is the purpose of a marketing plan?
A well-prepared marketing plan allows you to establish, direct and coordinate
your marketing efforts. By doing a marketing plan it forces you to assess what
is going on in the market place and how this can possibly affect your business.
Who reads the marketing plan?
Like a road map to a journey, a marketing plan will guide you to reach your
business goals. The marketing plan will be beneficial to yourself and also you
support crew and workers.
Others who may also be interested in your plan are your financial lenders for
your business.
What is it?
A marketing plan contains strategies and marketing objectives that will help
you and your business reach the ultimate goal. It describes the marketing activities
that you will perform during this ‘marketing’ period. It is important
that you include measurements that can be used to measure success or failure.
Here is a sample marketing plan.
When should a marketing plan be prepared?
Ideally you should prepare the marketing plan as you prepare your business plan.
A marketing plan is actually a component of a business plan.
If however you do not currently have a marketing plan prepared, then you should
get one done for perhaps the next 12 months.
Remember to keep the marketing plan up-to-date. A strategy working for one
year might not work for the next.
