Why do you need a business plan?A business plan is important because allows you to allocate resources and measure the success of your efforts. Your business plan will allow you to evaluate all aspects of the economical viability of your business venture. A proper business plan can act as: A thorough check - The fact that you have to get all your thoughts onto a piece of paper will allow you to take an objective, critical look at your business project in its entirely. Your business plan can uncover omissions and weaknesses in your business A performance tool - An operating tool that you can use to help you manage you business and work towards the success of it. The business plan will allow you to set realistic goals and if properly done is a great tool to provide a basis for evaluating and controlling the company’s future performaces. A selling tool - Your business plan can be used as a selling tool. It can be used to deal with important relationships including your lenders, investors and banks. A road map - Once your business plan is successfully completed it will give you goals and directions. It can be used to guide your business through both good and bad times. What a business plan must provideA sound business concept - Your business plan must show evidence of focus. The single most common mistake made by business owners is choosing the wrong business to begin with. The best way of learning about your prospective business is to work for someone else in that business yourself. Understanding of your target market - A business without a target market is useless. You should be able to list and define your target market. If you think you have a good idea then test it on your target market. Financial details - Where is your money going to come from? Will it be enough? Need a loan? What are the requirements of the lenders and/or investors? Also who will keep the financial details in check?
